Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Operations and working side-by-side with Production Supervisors, this individual will help develop processes to integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to efficiently manufacture specialty vehicles (small school buses).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Gather data and perform analysis of manufacturing capacity, efficiency, and bottlenecks relative to production targets.
  • Develop and implement LEAN practices (VSM, Continuous Flow, Waste Elimination, 5S, Standard Work and Cycle Times,TPM, Ergonomics).
  • Lead shop floor and business process improvement workshops.
  • Support Production Supervisors with process development/improvement, creation of work instructions, and creation ofassembly aids.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of manufacturing costs including elements of direct labor, indirect labor, supplies, tools, and utilities.
  • Develop spreadsheet and database tools to analyze data.
  • Develop and maintain plant layout in 2-D AutoCAD.
  • Design control systems to minimize costs and production issues.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • B.S. in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Working knowledge of 2-D AutoCAD and a 3-D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, or Creo)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blue prints, assembly drawing, schematics and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Education and/or Experience:

  • B.S. in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering)
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Familiarity with programming of industrial controls, PLCs, and robotics

Work Environment/Conditions:

  • General office environment with work on the plant floor as required.
